Brief study of pheromones for insects
農藥的使用，在台灣相當的普遍，要減少農藥的使用，就應發展綜合防治，其方式為利用一些非農藥的方法，配合農要做最合理的整合應用，以達到防治的目的。其中昆蟲性費洛蒙，即是近年被使用究防治害蟲的一種技術。本所性費洛蒙研究開發的體系，可分為生產、品管、及應用三大部分。
生產部分包括大量養蟲、費洛蒙組成份鑑定以及費洛蒙的化學合成；品管部分包括配方與生物活性測試及推廣可行性的試驗；應用部分則為田間綜合防治與效益的評估。本所性費洛蒙研究已完成跨系合作規劃，具有科技研究整合團隊之雛形，希望與各試驗研究機關加強合作，儀器設備及人員均能互相支援，最後使研究成果能夠和農民與消費大眾分享。
Fertilizer is widely used in Taiwan and integrated measures must be used to minimize dependence on fertilizer. The most effective way to do this is to apply some non-fertilizing methods. One recently applied technique involves the use of insect pheromones.This institute has established three departments to research and develop insect pheromones– Production, Quality Assurance and Application. The Production department focuses on breeding massive insects and testing the composition of pheromones. The Quality Assurance department is charge of biological activity testing and usage. Lastly, the Application department evaluates the effectiveness of applying insect pheromones in protecting farms.The research institute has utilized cross-disciplinary cooperation to develop a multifunctional team with a strong technology and research base. It hopes to further cooperate with various research agencies so that resources, facilities and manpower can be shared. The institute wishes to share its research results with farmers and consumers.
